It's more likely that the Judge was well-prepped, coordinating with the Plaintiff Attorneys, PRIOR to the Case even being brought to Court.

I'm sure he reached a "Negotiated Settlement", on how and how much compensation he would get, BEFORE the Case ever got to Court, with a guaranteed outcome.
