A few years ago my son attended Compton College for a creative writing class taught by a good teacher. Anyway there was an older Nigerian in the class who would constantly call out the class, “You call this a ghetto? You have $200 shoes on and an iPhone yet you think you live in a ghetto?”

They never seem to pass up an opportunity to voice these observations. I was often afraid Ode would start a major fight; and there I'd be, white boy, right smack in the middle of it.
