I suspect that these very old politicians are compromised and are not allowed to quit. Why else would a politician, who is worth tens of millions of ill-gotten gains not take time off to enjoy his loot?

Many of these DC power types believe they have to keep working for the careers of those that are their faithful handlers for years. Many DC law partners believe their clients would be lost without them. They truly believe they are indispensable to their clients, firms and the generations of nepotism to come.
