Russia May Have Launched A Second Oreshnik Ballistic Missile At Ukraine—But This One Reportedly Exploded On Russian Soil

A terror weapon becomes less terrifying when it doesn’t work.

After warning U.S. officials of its intention to launch, Russia lobbed a mysterious new ballistic missile—initially mistaken for a nuclear-capable ICBM—at the city of Dnipro in eastern Ukraine on the morning of Nov. 21, damaging buildings and injuring dozens of people.

The mystery weapon turned out to be a variant of Russia’s RS-26, a 40-ton, solid-fueled missile with six independent reentry vehicles. Its name, Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin announced shortly after the strike, is “Oreshnik.” That’s Russian for “hazelnut tree.”

Three months later on Thursday morning, the Russians reportedly launched another Oreshnik—this one apparently targeting Kyiv. Air raid sirens wailed. City residents scrambled for shelter. But then … nothing. No scream of incoming reentry vehicles. No thunderous impacts as the non-explosive vehicles slammed into the ground.

According to Kirill Sazonov, a Ukrainian war correspondent, the Oreshnik “did not fly far.” It reportedly malfunctioned and exploded—on Russian soil.

Everyone knew an attack might be coming. A week after the first Oreshnik strike, Putin threatened to fire additional Oreshniks—and specifically warned he’d target “decision-making centers” in Kyiv, where Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky, top officials and commanders and their staffs work.

Hey ...

Instead of posting childish graphics, why don’t you try intelligent conversation.

I notice that russian missiles seem to have some problems. And russian colonels seem to be auto-defenestrating. Do you suppose there’s some sort of connection between those two things?

SpaceX (and a few other private ventures) is the NASA way forward these days. Its rather dumb to do anything but SpaceX, at least in the medium term, they are so far ahead.

Theres no DEI in SpaceX btw.

The Russians lost their way too, they simply couldn’t compete with even early Falcon. They stagnated.

Theres no DEI in SpaceX...

There's also no NASA in SpaceX either.

There’s no AOC in SpaceX, but according to her, she’s smarter...

Well, AOC may actually be smarter than NASA, she probably holds a “critical” DEI position there.

SpaceX is going to the Moon, under contract to NASA.

STARSHIP HUMAN LANDING SYSTEM
Starship will land humans on the lunar surface for the first time in more than 50 years under NASA’s Artemis missions. Starting with Artemis III, Starship will land crew members at a region near the lunar South Pole to conduct moonwalks and survey the likely area of a future Moon base. On future missions, Starship will deliver supplies, equipment, and science payloads needed for extensive surface exploration.

Also a SpaceX VC company, Astrolab, will be providing “planetside” equipment to the Artemis missions.

Guess what? I don’t care because the only source for this article is a Ukrainian reporter and the article has been labeled as bs by a Russian source.

https://en.topwar.ru/258923-zapadnoe-izdanie-rasprostranilo-ukrainskuju-lozh-o-jakoby-puske-vtorogo-oreshnika-ne-doletevshego-do-ukrainy.html?ysclid=m6u705ylbb980345686

So who are you going to believe? I don’t waste my time commenting on unsubstantiated reports.

>>>>Instead of posting childish graphics, why don’t you try intelligent conversation.<<<<

The only comments you’ve made on this thread are about bumping articles to the top. If you consider, “And there you go again ... bumping the thread to the top”, “intelligent conversation”, you’re more stupid than I thought.

Whole Russia seems to be crumbling in rust.
A large part of Russian tax-payers money meant for maintenance of civil and military infrastructure and equipment has been vaporized in Russia’s gigantic corruption machine.
This explains the auto-regression of Russia as a whole right now.

I’m not the one who thinks the article is “spam” or “clutter”.

Try to keep up.

And it’s funny that you say you don’t care ... but you keep replying ... you keep posting childish graphics ... and you keep giving the article more views. I guess, despite your protestations, you actually WANT the Ukrainian point of view to get more notice.

You've claimed that for almost three years and every claim about Russia has been wrong.

We can have differing opinions

I think Zel and Putin are both Plicks and we, the USA by way of Trump, should give both a way to end this bloody nonsense.

That little gnat doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. She isn’t worth the trouble. Now, if she makes another incredibly stupid comment like that, I’ll ping Jim to it.
