Yeah good times, I don’t recall that there was ever any pushback against other ethnicities for speaking in their native language tongue even though they were now in America….oh wait there were those times that my parents and their friends received hate.

All people who come to America to stay need to learn english to fit in, but when was the last time outrage was shown against Vietnamese or other Asians for not speaking English, other than right after the Vietnam war.

Trust me I used to manage a large number of Hispanics and I was always of the opinion that they needed to learn and use English with the public. Most of the hostility is over all the illegals that have flooded in but a lot too hasn’t changed thirty years since I was managing and it’s that people don’t like it when they don’t know what someone is saying.

My wife’s relatives came from Cuba, their kids who were around 7-8 years old at the time didn’t speak a word of English.

Today, they speak English with no trace of an accent.
