CBS News staffers are reportedly furious over parent company Paramount Global’s intent to reach a settlement of a $10 billion lawsuit filed by President Trump over a controversial “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Journalists at the Tiffany Network’s news division are up in arms as Paramount chairwoman Shari Redstone green-lighted talks with the president’s representatives over a payout, the Status newsletter reported on Friday.
Then-candidate Trump filed a lawsuit in October in which he accused the long-running investigative program “60 Minutes” of manipulating an interview with Harris in a way that was unfavorable to him.
Insiders told Status that both CBS News president Wendy McMahon and “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens are strongly opposed to settling as staffers fumed that a payout could have negative ramifications for press freedom.
Legal experts also have dismissed the lawsuit as meritless.
“There is absolutely no reason, from a legal perspective, for CBS to settle — this is a ridiculous case,” First Amendment attorney Theodore Boutrous Jr. told Status.
Nevertheless, Redstone, the 70-year-old daughter of the late media mogul Sumner Redstone, is believed to be eager to put the legal saga behind her in order to boost the odds that Trump administration regulators will rubber-stamp a merger between her company and Skydance Media, according to the New York Times.
The Post has sought comment from CBS News and Paramount Global.
The heiress to the Redstone family media empire, who is the controlling shareholder of Paramount Global and its parent company, National Amusements, also stands to profit handsomely from the merger.

Any guesses where President Trump’s library will go? Doubtful it will be NY, I’ll go with FL somewhere. Adding to that he’ll buy a smaller regional airport that’s not doing so well within driving distance to Mar-a-Lago, expand the runway for bigger jets and make it a tourist destination!

Doesn’t make sense to me, of course an interview of a Harris would be intended to be unfavorable to Trump. Haven’t seen any lawsuits for using words like fascist or hitlers, or threat to democracy….
My understanding was the lawsuit was against 60 minutes for physically manipulating the interview to make a very unfavorable Harris interview look like a fender bender rather than a catastrophic train wreck for Harris and the dims

In an extraordinary public apology, NBC said Tuesday night that it erred in staging a fiery test crash of a General Motors pickup truck for its “Dateline NBC” news program and agreed to settle a defamation suit filed by the auto maker.

LOL! “Prepare it.” Grab the recording. Give it to somebody as ordered. It does take a little time to manipulate / “prepare” something, though.
Anyhow, we already know what was original, as it was used to tease the show frequently leading up to the final broadcast. And it made kaMAla look absolutely terrible.

I believe the did a hatchet job on the Ford Pinto exploding gas tank issue.

Maybe not as it has been postulated that the Obama library will only be a new wing at the Clinton double-wide. It will be called “the Kenyan Korner”.
Many in the media are so full of themselves. Talk about abuse of power. They’ve been so accustomed to thinking they have final say in everything it has become part of their personalities. And the reactions show.
