I grew up in the metro area of a city which had a mayor with a very illustrious public life and known for (among other things) the phrase ‘b*tch set me up.’ I sometimes miss him compared to some of these current big city mayors.

I remember Coleman Young in Detroit, proudly showing his latest “Fun Babies” at Press Conferences.

We moved to the area from New York when Mayor Washington was mayor. When it snowed and he was asked about plowing the streets, he answered something along the lines of “The Lord brought the snow, the Lord will take it away.” We were appalled.
