Had to be some kind of waver/exemption/special application involved if the chick was allowed to pilot a chopper with a yard of loose hair.

Women know how to fix their hair so it is not an issue.

I used to fly with a first officer who was, I guess, a Harley guy. He had a long ponytail. He used to tie it back in an elastic hair tie and put the ponytail inside his shirt so no one could see it.

“Fixing” hair might work hanging around the office. But when stuff goes sideways in an industrial environment that flying wad of hair, and whatever was holding it in place, will be the first problem. In my world everyone is dressed and groomed as though something is about to screw up. Even a quick hand motion can be the difference between safety and disaster. That first hand motion should not be to tighten a bun.

You don’t want to see your pilot fixing the hair?
