Slight slide here - where can I find the actual platform of Trump regarding student loans. The media has my friend all wrapped up in a tizzy due to them claiming basically that she’ll be paying $800 a month for her loans, which date back to the early 2000s. She had a break when she had cancer in 2007, and otherwise has paid the minimum faithfully over the years. She’s not high on the income scale, unfortunately.

Anyway, the media hates trump and all the search engines go to media crap instead of Trump’s actual stance on the issue. Her concern is basically due to low income. Relatively low.

The are methods of dealing with student loans if needed. They can be discharged in bankruptcy under certain situation.

Solutions are there, but the media wants to continue it as a political football,.

I found this article using Yandex:

Breaking Down Trump’s New Plan

This latest student loan forgiveness proposal differs slightly from what previous administrations have done since Joe Biden took office. While the Biden administration was more about broad relief, Trump’s plan is designed around financial responsibility, targeted relief, and long-term debt management.
Important takeaways:

Income-Based Repayment Adjustments: The government will recalculate repayment plans for borrowers to make monthly payments more affordable.
The forgiveness will be less broad: aimed at certain buckets (like low-income graduates or graduates in loan-forgiveness professions), rather than an all-out blanket forgiveness.
Interest moratorium: Under some situations the accrued interest on student loans will cease in order to protect the debt from snowballing.
Public-Private Partnership Programs: One new proposed government-private alliance has its sights firmly set on finding new avenues for forgiveness of student debt.

His stance is probably the legal stance. There is a non 0 possibility the giveaways get clawed back. I told a buddy of mine not to “spend” a lump sum amount they lopped off his. Just keep banking the payments until it’s set in stone.

Another thing no one grasps is that if you pay $5/ month they stay “current”. You could actually set up a small trust with enough money to make the monthly minimum until you die. Might make credit a bit harder to obtain, but you’re DEFINITELY not getting that with a big or defaulted student loan balance anyways.
