Reflexively, wouldn’t a pilot under stress instinctively pull up on the collective and back on the cyclic?
Maybe under the surprise of the moment, the pilot-in-control did that...

Yes, and it would be good had they done it 12 secs earlier. Would’ve cleared the plane. Not my preferred method for avoidance for this incident but it would’ve work. They were hitting anyway before any last second maneuver.
