Have you been able to listen to the recording of the Traffic Controller and the pilot (I assume), it was a training flight so who knows. The Controller warned the copter about the plane, pilot said he (deep male voice) saw it, and requested visual separation. That means he want to handle it himself. The controller OK’ed it. After a pause (don’t know the length) the controller warns the pilot again and he says very calmly that he has visual asks for visual separation again and the controller says OK, and it happened pretty quick after that.
A retired or senior pilot has a video up and plays all the vocal transmissions. He says (and radar) shows there is a line of planes coming in to land the airport’s 3 runways.
This pilot thinks the copter pilot was looking at the plane ahead of the one he hit. He still definitely went into forbidden airspace for him, the plane was cleared to land and was right where it should have been.
I think the controller should have ordered that copter to drop and turn, emergency, do it now.

Above is the link to the video with all the vocal transmissions from the incident and commentary by a pilot who knows the airport. It’s very informative.

That would have done the trick.
Culture of respect for flyers failed here.
