Hood as an army commander is right up there with Bragg. If they’re going to rename Ft Hood again, they should go with Audie Murphy, the greatest Texan hero of all.
IMO, the South's best generals were:
Robert E. Lee
Stonewall Jackson
Nathan Bedford Forrest
Patrick Cleburne
Jeb Stuart
Many thought Albert Sidney Johnston was the best but he caught a bullet behind his right knee in his first major battle (Shiloh) and died so its impossible to tell.
