I agree. In a big war this won’t do much. Some missiles are just way to fast to catch. Multiple projectiles would also overwhelm things.

And the vests worn by police officers won’t do much either in a large nuclear exchange; but they do help save lives every day.
The biggest threat to America may not be from Russia or Red China but from rouge nations with unstable leaders. Think of the religious zealots in Iran who see glory in self immolation.
I’m thinking the iron dome at first will be designed to handle a few incoming from small states. And until it is tested in war our opponents will not know for sure how good it is - or how lucky the U.S. may be.
Another option is to have a system to protect people in important states in the U.S. and to leave states like California and New York naked. I would be interested to see how liberals in those states react to such a plan.
