Lifers in the military get screwed all the time. Some of the most bitter NCO’s were senior enlisted men who were just putting in their time.

On a lighter note I knew one lifer that got out after 19 years. Bill Clinton gave him credit for the 20th(downsizing). He will forever be grateful to the man. I would too.
I served under McCain for a short period of time, and I pooh-pooh his record too, for damn good reason.
