Items would not need to be repriced. Items could still sell for 1.99. What will change is the calculation after sales tax is added. Right now the final price (merchandise plus sales tax) is rounded up or down to the nearest penny. All that will change is the rounding (up or down) will be to the nearest 5 cents.

The math will become too complex.

Seek government efficiency elsewhere, lil’ dogie...we NBCs love us some pennies.

What will we call penny loafers?

Also, isn’t finding a penny also tied up in getting lucky? Are you planning to ban good luck?

I live in a sales tax free state.

My main objection to this is it’s another step towards a cashless economy where government controls your ability to buy and sell.
