How much of the earth’s mass is water?

AI Overview

Water makes up only a very small percentage of the Earth’s total mass, approximately 0.02%. While water covers a large portion of the Earth’s surface (around 71%), the majority of the planet’s mass is made up of the Earth’s solid interior, making water a relatively small contributor to the overall mass.

Never question me.

AI is notorious for GIGO errors...

So if that number holds true for surface water, than the true number including water locked in the mantle or core would be an additional .06%... or .08%. Which would be a much bigger “blob” on the graphic...

AI is not our all powerful overlord yet. I’ll question what I damn well want to... :-)
