Years ago a northern sports writer wrote about his visit to Tuscaloosa for the 2010 Penn State vs Bama game. He said he went expecting the kind of hostility he's used to seeing at northern games.

Instead, he was impressed with southern hospitality, that the Bama fans cheered Joe Paterno when he came onto the field (before the Sandusky scandal), that the people who worked at the hotel were courteous like they actually meant it, that fans all over were dressed up like the game was more of a social affair than a game, etc.

The kid handled it exactly as he should have.
Ever see what usually happens in a fight in the steep seating in a stadium in a fight?
It ends up taking out several people downhill.

The fat effer got what he had coming to him. He’s out of the stadium forever and out of a job.
Real smart.

Just remember. There have been professional games forfeited because of fan behavior. The ones that come to mind is the Dodgers game years ago and i think the Browns game years ago where they filled the feild with beer bottles..i cant remeber if that one was forfeited or not.

Yes they do. I lived in the Chestnut Hill area. Kept my horse in Fairmount Park. My family had been in Philadelphia since the 1700’s in one shape or form. We couldn’t take it anymore and left in 1994. Every extension of my family left between 1989 and 1999. Carolinas, Arizona, Florida, Delaware, Tennessee, as our destinations. We go back now for funerals of friends.

My understanding is that the worst parents overestimate their kid’s ability to play the game and they think they see dollar signs floating away when their kid loses a game.

Then he got the SOB fired and his name and face globally bill boarded as an @$$hole. I would also call that a win. Punching out a drunk who’s surrounded by his friends is suicide.

Exactly......every parent thinks their kid is the next Mark McGwire or Barry Bonds.

The odds of a kid making it into any pro sports league is astronomical.

I don’t agree with that. I wear my Chiefs gear anywhere. That’s my team. I live in Arizona, home of the Cardinals.

“2010 Penn State vs Bama game”

He went to the wrong game.....SEC fans save their rage for other teams in the SEC.

Alabama Auburn is a good example.....people get divorced over that rivalry.......and I’m not joking either.

It gets downright nasty and hateful.

I was on Highland. Right near.....Wawa! The place I miss the most. Grandmother on East Highland. Aunt on Moreland. Parents in Wyndmoor.

I brew my own coffee, make my own Amorosos rolls, make my own hot soups, and my own Hogies. So in a strange way, I should thank being driven out by bad politics and corruption. I probably save a few grand a year that doesn't go to Wawa, instead, paying for my kids college and better habits.

“ Yeah, not victim shaming the woman, but no reason to wear visiting team gear to the stadium of the home team… you are only inviting trouble”

Only when the opposing team has a bunch of morons and criminals as a fan base.

I’m a Packers fan and I have been my whole life. I used to live in Green Bay and went to countless Packers games. Always respectful to opposing fans and often even approached them and welcomed them to Green Bay.

Let’s assign blame where blame is due, and in this case it’s entirely on that particular jackwagon (likely D voter) and since it’s Philly, the entire city. this isn’t a lone incident and is more par for the course for them.

I had to chuckle at your comment. Years and years ago, I had the opportunity to talk with Lamar Hunt. He was the owner of the Columbus Crew soccer team back in the day, and had built the first soccer-specific stadium for the team. We became season ticket holders.

After one game, my kids were hanging out with one of their friends who was a ball boy. They had a chance to go with him to the locker room. So I waited for them outside the area, and that’s when I ran into Mr. Hunt. He seemed to have been watching me. He knew I was waiting for someone. I recognized him and told him thank you for building the stadium, and for keeping ticket prices reasonable for a young family. Then he asked me lots of questions about our family’s experience there as ticket holders. He was so interested in my thoughts. A very kind and gracious man. I have the utmost respect for him. When he passed, I remembered that day.
