The constitution is rationally designed.
We effed it up with the 17th ammendment. Repeal it and cap house representation to a reasonable number like 250K instead of the current and growing 700K.
Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution states, "The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand". The 2020 census recorded a U.S. resident population of 331,449,281. Deducting for non-citizens, legal or not, there are likely somewhere around 300 million citizens. If the Constitution were followed, we would have about 10,000 representatives rather than 435, a number agreed to in 1913. At that time, there was one representative per 212,000 U.S. residents. Currently, that figure is at 762,000, a population greater than the most populous state in 1790, Virginia with 748,000 residents.
Technology such as Zoom makes a 10,000 member legislature possible.
