Spirit failed to advise us they were suspending or ceasing operations at our scheduled departure (major) airport. They had several months to give us a call or whatever.
So, when we arrived, baggage in hand, at the departure gate there was no plane. And no Spirit counter. And no Spirit customer service reps.
Several other people were there already, asking the neighboring airlines’ staffs for any assistance they could possibly provide. I believe it was the Delta reps who got us on our way. Yes, at substantial extra cost because when you buy tix at the departure time, they’re a lot more expensive than when you buy them early.
Cost us, as I recall, some $2200 or so extra.
Never was able to get even a peep of a response from Spirit.
We will never, ever fly Spirit. Fortunately, there are still some halfway decent airlines as alternatives (notwithstanding yes, I know, all the garbage with the checkin business nowadays)
We’d sooner hitchhike
Back in the 80’s I was going to fly People’s Express to book a ticket & we couldn’t find their counter so we went to another counter & asked and they pointed to another hallway. Walked down to the hallway, turned the corner & there was a 6’ wooden kiosk on rollers that they rolled out to the main hall prior to one of their flights.
