I hope this isn't a good news/bad news situation.

I'm happy for him that his house survived.

But...

If his whole neighborhood is devastated, are the power lines functional? Are the water mains functional? Are the gas mains functional?

He may have his house, but if the electrical grid is down how long will it take LA to get basic services restored to just one home in a destroyed area? When will postal services return to his home?

We will see what happens during recovery.
I’m sure they will get more government assistance then North Carolina.
