Neither incident happened as reported. The Senator’s husband’s hands were reportedly encumbered.
I’m in the process of watching the funeral now, Pence stood up, exchanged a few words with Pres. Trump and shook both his and Melania’s hand. Karen Pence did not seem to get involved in the greetings but was seated & hidden behind the standing DJT at that point. I did see her shoot a snotty look at Melania later, but it’s possibly just typical “plain” woman jealousy.
The Bushes and Clinton’s both were directed to walk across/around the empty front row and slide into their seats in the second. It wasn’t really a situation where they would greet others already seated without awkward reaching — the Clintons were 4 and 5 seats away.
I was not surprised at the camaraderie between Trump & Obama (both are likely excellent “schmoozers”) but was mildly surprised at how attentive Hillary seemed towards Bill Clinton (and yes, his hands were shaking pretty badly at one point).
Biden looked like a corpse. Kamala looked pissed (possibly in both the American & British meanings). Emhoff is a total Beta.
