Cheaper U.S. corn forced local corn out of the market. NAFTA damaged American manufacturing and Mexican agriculture. Over 30 years ago, Ross Perot was greatly criticized for opposing NAFTA. It turns out his assessment was right.

If memory serves, seems like NAFTA was a Clintoon era thing so not surprised the result would be disastrous. Perot was correct on many issues of the day yet was nothing but a spoiler in the big scheme of things.
