Winter Storm Blair is headed to impact much of the central and eastern United States late Sunday.
Blizzard conditions are likely for some areas and ice storms and heavy snow are expected in others, The Weather Channel predicts.
Winter storm warnings have been issued for Washington, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.
Travel conditions are expected to be dangerous and some icing could be heavy enough that it could knock out power for some.
Freezing rain is falling in parts of Kansas and Missouri, where icing is already an issue on some roads.

If the storm has a name, it must be really bad.
So, I checked out the forecast on AccuPanic dot com, and they said we would be getting 1 to 2 inches, and on the same page they said we would be getting 2 to 4 inches.
It’s really cold here in NE Florida this morning. 57 degrees. But fortunately no snow is predicted. 10 day outlook pretty much the same. Overnight lows in the 40s so we’ll throw an extra blanket on the bed. (Gosh, I’m so glad i don’t live in Minnesota anymore.). What’s that storm name again?
😎
It’s winter time in the USA snow &cold are friggin normal this time of year get used to it.
The snow isn’t bad, but the ice is.
Years ago I was commuting on a cold and snowy March day.
I was driving down a level residential street at twenty miles an hour.
What I did not realize was that there was ice underneath that coating of snow—and all of a sudden I skidded off the road.
My tires were in excellent shape.
I had not touched the accelerator or the brakes.
It is amazing what ice can do.
I think they got the idea about the time they changed how we name hurricane’s genders.
For crying out loud, it’s January. These things happen.
🙏 for them to be okay.
Sounds like weather, I’ll be darned.
I hope Biden’s 20 Million freeze their gonads off.
There are two weather sites I watch during severe storms. Both are currently doing live reports and are including video from cameras in the affected areas. They are reporting on the tornadoes developing in the south in addition to the ice and snow storms.

Spring would be a better name.
Carter didn’t plan his passing very well. Too many ancient demonrats will be slip sliding away.
Spring is what I’m looking forward to seeing. I’m ready for my jonquils to bloom.
At the links I posted above, their video is showing white-out conditions in Kansas. Cars are already sliding off the road and getting stuck.
There is a second system forming that will bring another snow storm next weekend, but this one will be further south. The moisture will be coming up from the gulf and Texas, OK, AK, and northern Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia will be affected by that one.
TX here. The next 5-6 nights will be 27-30. I’m letting the cats out today but they better get themselves in tonight. After that, they’re going to hate me for making them stay in until Saturday. Last week we hit 90 and I cleaned the carpet - that was a mistake.
Here in Georgia we have a similar forecast. Colder than average for the next 10 days with highs in the 40s and lows in the low 20s. Then we have the chance of snow/ice next weekend. I told the cats to clean their plates, get their running around finished today, and then they better find their spots in the barn. (The cats bed down in the old goat barn along with the herd of deer that has taken over our pasture and barn areas).
I’m hoping that after this current cold spell is done we can start looking for those signs of spring.
I remember one night years ago, I saw a pair of headlights well behind me. They were in a normal horizontal orientation. I looked again, and they had gone vertical. The vehicle must have found a ditch.
Another time, I saw a snow day picture of a four-by-four perched on top of a guardrail. Many people think that four wheel drive cancels out the laws of physics. It doesn’t.
Exactly.
