The DC officials will have weather alerts, snow alerts, ice alerts cold alerts etc. What that means is the fed offices will be shut down for the 5-10% who actually go to the office. Even with a 30 billion subway system they cannot get around. Meanwhile, with the city shut down, another day off for the work at home crowd with the Carter extravaganza when they will be off again.

On the bright side, we’re all probably better off because of it. Do you really want all the government that you pay for?

“subway system....Carter extravaganza”

The subway system apart from problematic escalators worked well when I lived in the metro DC area over 30 years ago. It was heavily used at the time, unlike the very similar BART in the San Francisco area. My DC friend said operations deteriorated after I moved to Florida.

Paris had a very smooth-running subway system when I visited in 2016.

I understand that all DC Metrorail subway lines run above ground for the majority of their length.

They are already getting Thursday the 9th off for Carter’s passing. And next Monday is MLK Day another federal holiday. It’s not bad work if you can get it!
