My BFF up in the DC area went out to get some supplies this morning and said it was CRAZY in the stores. She gassed up the car too, but said the gas station wasn’t too crowded.
The ice storm warnings cover the whole midsection of the country from the coast to the Rockies.
And the winds are incredibly strong.
People will lose power in this and if the icing is bad enough and the temperatures don’t warm up, it’s not going to melt and clean up will be miserable.
Anyone sensible doesn’t move an inch on the roads in DC. In 1990 I got caught in a snowstorm and had to make it from Northern VA to Maryland. The Beltway and major streets were a nightmare. I bailed into Rock Creek Park and there was no traffic, the snow was fresh and gave a bit of traction.
Here in NM we get more snow but it’s not a problem, plus my neighbor has a tractor and plows the whole road and your drive if the gate is open.
