Friends with deep ocean ancorage tell me that abandoned boats are a big deal.
Homeless swim out and live in them. Leave messes.
The boats are often untraceable and costly for towns to remove
Is anybody here a marine floatologist?
“costly for towns to remove”
Yep, that’s what happened last time....these people that own these sailboats live on ‘em and usually don’t have two nickles ti rub together......so the city recouping any expenditures for removal is futile.
LOL! YOU WIN!

A good friend of mine purchased a big boat in Florida that had been sunk in a storm.
As he was pressure washing it inside, suddenly cash started flying. Here the boat had a very large amount of cash stashed inside that was totally buried in the mud.
Was a very profitable venture.
Did they move that city out of Florida recently?
Bulldozer is cheaper.
You missed my point. Usually the headline says “Florida Man” and then specifies which place in Florida. Probably grabs a few more eyeballs that way.
This isn’t the “S.S. Minnow’’, is it?
Indeed. “Florida Man’’ is legendary for his brazenly stupid antics.
It has been a decade or more when there was a 29 foot tarpon boat that was taking on water and ran ashore on the beach in front of the condo we were staying at in the Tampa area. The early estimate was $5K by Sea Tow. They were there all day and made several attempts to refloat it with airbags. That weren't successful until high tide at sunset. I have no idea what the final cost was.
