PS on that recipe: my mom did a 2, 1, 1 on her Apple cider vinegar, Water, and Sugar ratio. I think she just hade a sweet tooth and wasn’t so fond of the vinager. We all have our preferences.

Glad I could help give you a place to start. I remember the pickling recipe was always boiled and steeped. Just like you would when making any pickled vegetable.
