I actually think he drove himself there. He wouldn't have had any concern driving the Tesla to the location and parking it, just as the 'innocent' Q referred to wouldn't have a problem walking up to the White House fence.
When I said 'man and machine' I should have said 'man and device' were remote controlled. There's no way they'd leave the detonation up to the man.
