I question the timing of the rumors about their relationship, Michelle's absence, the 'cold' picture of them at the table, and especially this picture of her.
I think the picture exposes her masculine browridge - the eyebrows are are painted up and over the massive brow ridge with the intention of lessening focus on it (look at the dark lined brows instead). The nose is likely normally contoured with makeup, as is common among many heavily photographed women these days, but in that specific picture the lighting emphasizes the nose in a manner that would flatter few if any women, and any contouring (makeup) would be useless.
That hairline might be alopecia caused by securing a wig to hair. But it might also be male pattern baldness.
I kind of wonder if they are separating as they anticipate being on the business end of investigations, and lawyers would want to separate them (and their legal strategies/fates).
In a way, if Michelle wants to leave (separate legal defense) then this could be Barry's response ('leave and I expose you') or his pressure on her not to air the dirty laundry. I don't believe that he did this out of warmth or kindness. He praises her, I think, in order to escape the appearance of being mean, vindictive, petty etc.

Separating/Divorcing vastly diminishes their legal armor standing as a unit versus individually. As a unit neither spouse can be compelled to give testimony against the other AND they are able to coordinate stories and plans securely between themselves.

My presumption, if I was involved in their defense, is that one or both were going to attempt to flee and/or that one was getting/cutting a deal.

I’ve noticed some of the ultra rich couple that may be facing legal issues (eg: gates & bezos) may be getting divorced as a preemptive means of defense against asset forfeiture in a criminal prosecution???

I’ve also wondered if the entire attempt to accept the LGBTQ lifestyle as “normal “ was designed to throw shade on big myke coming out before making a run for POTUS???
