Putin tells Russians at New Year that 'everything will be fine'

President Vladimir Putin told Russians in a New Year address that the country would move forward with confidence in 2025, though he offered no specific promises on the economy or the war in Ukraine.

At a time when many ordinary people are worried about rising prices and the central bank's 21% interest rate is squeezing businesses and homebuyers, Putin reassured Russians that their wellbeing was his top priority.

He framed Russia's challenges as part of a wider historic mission, evoking past victories including its role in the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War Two.

Russia, he said, had overcome trials, achieved major goals and strengthened its unity in the first quarter of the 21st century - a period coinciding exactly with his time as its paramount leader.

"And now, on the threshold of the new year, we are thinking about the future. We are confident that everything will be fine, we will only move forward. We know for sure that the absolute value for us was, is and will be the fate of Russia, the well-being of its citizens," he said.

The counts about Russian casualties pretty much agree across all sources, ISW, NATO, US etc. Last year, there was a Russian blogger who used to post the official Russian casualty count - it was within a few thousand of the non-Russian count.

So those numbers you dismiss as “propaganda” are fairly accurate. And maybe low, because there are many Russian bodies that were never recovered. Plus medical aid on the Russian and now N.Korean side is pretty much non-existent, further exacerbating the casualty count. Badly wounded Russian troops on the front are encouraged to eat a bullet of pull the grenade pin. Because they are non-recoverable due to the danger from UKR troops.

Let’s raise a glass, and toast to 2025 being the year zeepers disappeared from FR.

Amen to that!

One of the stupidest ones is *still* posting to me after I told him not to, but perhaps since I allowed him to have the last word, he’ll finally get the message. Zeepers, while some can be entertaining, are a nuisance.

I hope you’re having a nice New Year’s Day. I’m off to meet friends for lunch in a few minutes.

“The counts about Russian casualties pretty much agree across all sources, ISW, NATO, US etc. “

Why didn’t you post those sources? 600,00 Russian casualties and 400,000 Ukraine casualties are the figures Trump put out. I don’t trust your other “sources” either.

“Do your own homework. I’m not your slave.”

No, you’re not. You’re an arrogant Uke nationalist. Get this, the USA is not yours either.
