As a white Christian male in tech, I can confirm that I’ve been passed over for work in lieu of “people of color” and women. If you’ve ever been interviewed by a big tech company, you are entitled to a Data Subject Request (DSR), and they are required to provide it to you. Turns out one of mine had notes from interviewers who went so far as to say, “More than qualified, but white.”

How would you read that?

Yep. The H1B program needs to be abolished. The abuses have been systematic.

***“More than qualified, but white.”***

Stunning! Putting financial gain and/or personal bias over your countryman's needs.

Wouldn't the documented discrimination be enough to file a federal law suit - especially if a number of you could join together?

I think it is more DEI and ESG bull$hit than it is H1B abuse.

My son (White, married, Christian male) is constantly being approached by headhunters in the tech field. He’s very good at what he does.

If tech sector needs talent while avoiding the cancel culture. H1Bs allow them to get BIPOCs and still have some modicum of talent.

Much of the fraud I have found among visa holders is the inability to document degrees and experience from overseas. References just ring to an empty number or sound canned. No contact for companies. You can’t get transcripts of Master’s degrees from foreign universities. We quit sponsoring people because they leave as soon as they get the card.

On the bright side, Trump, Vivek & Elon are against DEI & working to eliminate that particular form of discrimination. There may be a promotion in your future. :-)

I think this H1B business really has blown up in their faces. They should be making an issue of our education system if they really believe Americans aren’t up to these jobs.

Boeing flat out stated they wanted 20% (that’s 1 in 5) of all applicants to be black and not to close out the job requisition until 20% was achieved. Then, Boeing stated that if a black applicant was interviewed then the black had to be hired or else the hiring manager needed to explain why not. Same with women. Boeing’s DEI “executive” was a big fat black woman that was nothing but a criminal racist. The board of directors backed her, too.

This happened in every large company I knew of; from Boeing, to Qwest, to Comcast, etc. I worked in the Denver market and it was run primarily by Indians or women. Indians hired Indians and the women followed DEI practices. In both cases, no white men allowed.

This is happened to me too. I remember in the 90s when 95% of programmers was white and men but 50% of management was women. They women would get hired, often make an ass of themselves and they still would get promoted up to middle and upper management.

I've had the same experience.

I’d read it as a lawsuit with a large payout.

I would have filed a lawsuit on the spot and made it hurt!
