FR Christians would be or were fine with the many Orthodox who celebrate Christmas on December 25, and would have supported any who cared to join the majority of Christianity in that Christmas.
I don’t recall FR Christians being negative and against the Orthodox who celebrated our Christmas day.
Your post makes no sense. Why would Freepers be negative about what day anyone celebrated Christmas, whether Orthodox or Catholic or Baptist or whatever? No one ever claimed they were, certainly I did not claim any such thing.
Orthodox who celebrate “our” Christmas? Well, the Orthodox and Catholic and Protestant Churches all agree that Christmas, or the Feast of the Nativity, falls on December 25th. The difference is which calendar is used. The Orthodox Julian December 25 happens to fall on “our” Gregorian January 7 nowadays.
The Greek Orthodox (with some exceptions) switched over to the Gregorian calendar back in the 1920s. The Georgian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian (in alphabetical order) and other Eastern Orthodox Churches did not. They continue to celebrate Christmas on “our” Jan. 7.
That is, until Zelensky decreed Christmas would henceforth be celebrated on December 25 last year. Yes, in 2023, for the first time in history going all the way back to the 10th century, Ukraine celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25th. I guess he figured if Henry VIII could appoint himself head of the Church of England ...
Personally, I don’t care which calendar a church chooses to use. You seem to think others should be “more like us”.
