Kiev started it. When the Banderist nazis took over that city, they tried to expand the coup to claim all of the territory of old Ukraine.
But they forgot, when you throw a coup, everyone else has that same right to assert control of THEIR areas.
Also, when you overthrow the legitimate government, the last thing you need is the surly street militias standing around watching and chiming in. So they sent them east to attack the Donbass and grab Crimea.

I don’t really care who started it. And I don’t really care who “wins”. They’re both hyper corrupt states with criminal thugs in power.
The correct thing to do is hope both sides lose.
