I think I’ve read all of John D. MacDonald’s books, and I own copies of most of them. Anyway, Travis McGee would definitely have had enough sense to avoid an accidental explosion, though I believe the Busted Flush was bombed on one occasion. Don’t recall which book, and I don’t feel like digging it out right now.

In any case, McGee has to be at least 90 by now, but I like to think he’s still living at Bahia Mar at slip F-18.

I almost wrote that I could remember when Frank Sinatra played Travis McGee.

I decided to look that up and was rudely reminded that Frank played Tony Rome, a Miami retired cop who also lived on a boat.

Rod Taylor and Sam Elliot both played Travis McGee.

Katharine Ross (The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid) also played in one Travis McGee movie.
