As we leave the world of religion, belief in God which are the wellsprings of human morality, we cling to the nothingness of everything is relative which leaves us clutching nothing but material existence and self-centered narcissism.

Popular culture pushes an agenda of self-fulfillment and personal growth and healthy eating so we can live forever.

The Boomer generation (of which I am part of) is responsible for carrying out all of the social messages of the 1960’s and 1970’s - namely, “If it feels good, do it” and “Power to the People”. These concept, taken to their logical conclusion have destroyed our moral compass.
If it feels good, (no matter what, do it) including flash mob theft, stealing, destroying property and even murder. Power to the people has become the power of the almighty cellular phone where more and more people are getting increasingly warped and inaccurate information about reality.

These expressions have led millions down the path of assuming that they (we) have a “choice” in every aspect of our lives including not getting married, not having kids and eventually, not having grandkids.

The Millennials are not to blame. They have grown up in a valueless society geared to mass consumer consumption and now, more than ever, getting stoned.

Only Conservatives, still clinging to basic religious concepts and living their lives according to the ultimate Law of God still hold out hope.

This does not mean one must be religious but it does mean that there is a higher authority above the simple human being who always thinks they are right and justified in their behavior.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident...”

Merry Christmas to all and Happy Hannukah.

Yes, I think you are right with your assessment of the situation after the sixties and the failure of society to teach good values to the young.

Good in the world has to be instilled in children, it does not arrive by itself - just as a gardener always provides for his plants, weeding, fertilizing, watering, knowing well that his garden won‘t provide him with vegetables and fruit if he neglects it.

Or rather, it will bear rotten fruit, metaphorically speaking…the consequences of which we are seeing now 😞

On a more positive note: Have a wonderful and blessed Hanukkah, Sir. May there be the peace of HaShem with you and your loved ones🕎
