They’ll pick a dead fish off the surface. They’re just as happy with a stale fish than one they’d stolen from an Osprey.
That said, Mexico’s national bird is also an eagle—just different. Maybe it’s the Caracara?
What I saw was definitely a Bald Eagle. Caracara are further south from me-I’m in Northern Illinois.
