The DaVinci robot was used and it's kind of amazing. The doc is in a booth across the room operating the robot. Google the pics. It's like an overhead spider with a bunch of arms doing the actual procedure.
Long story short, he's fine and fully functional. Every nerve down there was preserved.
Gentlemen, if you are avoiding "the finger" .... don't. The finger exam detected what the PSA test did not.
The doctor told me that biopsy wouldn't be too bad, it would be like two fingers, not one. It wasn't like two fingers; it was more like a football. At least it was pointed on the ends so it would go in easier. I've had more of these than I can count. I think I'm getting better at passing a football than Tom Brady. Actually, the last two were done through the perineum and under light sedation. This was said to be safer at avoiding infection than with the football.
