How are glucose levels lowered? Drugs? Shots? Diet?

All the above, plus exercise.

Diet: no/low sugar, absolutely no high fructose corn syrup, absolutely no sugar substitutes, no soda, no fruit juice (the fruits are OK because they have fiber that slows absorption, but not the pure juice). Whole milk is probably fine in moderation. If one can lose body weight, that usually helps.

Exercise: improves insulin sensitivity and more effective muscles absorb insulin.

Drugs: any medical doctor can give you a list of the usual suspects.
