Food is definitely cheaper in Spain going by supermarket prices.

People I talked to who were to the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden, all said food was much, much more expensive there. This was a few years ago.

In Australia, food was much, much more expensive.

That was in simple dollars at the exchange rate.

In terms of percentage of income, food in Europe, as I recall, is about twice as expensive as in the USA.

US food inflation has been terrible.
