The collapse of Bashar al-Assad's government marks the end of a nearly 54-year dynasty that began in 1971 under his father, Hafez al-Assad.

Assad’s ouster would end his 24-year iron rule and the 54-year Assad family dynasty, which began with his father, Hafez Assad, in 1971. Bashar Assad took power in 2000 following his father’s death and struggled for 13 years to maintain control during a brutal civil war that devastated the nation.

"After 50 years of oppression under Baath rule, and 13 years of crimes and tyranny and (forced) displacement... we announce today the end of this dark period and the start of a new era for Syria," the rebel factions said on Telegram.

Under Assad, Syria’s Alawite minority maintained dominance in a predominantly Sunni Muslim nation, while the country became a critical ally of Iran, remaining hostile toward Israel and the United States.

Saudis and others in the Gulf are happy. Whatever hurts Iran is all to the good.

Iran is a paper tiger. They can only project force through Hezbollah. Israel took care of that.

They tried to get forgiveness by sending a token division to retake Kuwait in 1991 as part of that most bizarre coalition.

But they continued their Lebanese intervention/participation in the Lebanese civil war, by that time they facilitated the rise of Hezbollah.

Their most effective proxy right now are the Houthis. They have had a powerful negative effect on world trade.

Nobody yet has taken care of that.

The sick thing is the Zeepers are actually celebrating the implementation of brutal Sharia Law in Syria. They are cheering for the destruction of Christians, Kurds Alawites, women and other minorities.

They are celebrating the rise of a Jihadist State in Syria. All that matters to them is celebrating a “victory” over Russia.

Only a complete psychopath would choose brutal Sharia Law over the Russians.

John Kiriakou interview. He was CIA and worked in other agencies. He has some interesting tales about all and politicians.

Many clips on the right side of page with interviews with him.

I knew weapons were involved & depicted in the movie. My focus was on the attack and circumstances. If people really understood what occurred but it was so glossed over by the media. I interviewed Sarah after reading the report and one of the reasons the contractors were quiet about the attack was they technically broke the law by trying to save the ambassador and had the threat of prosecution while Democrats are in power. Trump should pardon them if you ask me.
