On your wife’s computer, go to Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections
There should be Wi-Fi connection shown. Right click on it and click troubleshoot.

You can also try disconnecting your direct ethernet cable connection and plugging her USB "ethernet" dongle into one of your USB ports to see if it fires up a wireless connection for you.

That's just a USB to wifi adapter.
Get another one. They're not expensive.
Your inhouse wireless might be a bit wonky as well.
