Also, I haven’t ignored anything. Western society, on Christian teachings made Western society a society that is just on this side of Heaven. That’s the role of works in society. It makes our society nicer for our children, who will hopefully pass on the blessing. Judeo-Christianity is the only civilization that could potentially have a Star Trek like future.

Actually, it has a very direct role in our salvation. Good behavior doesn’t make one a Christian, but having become a Christian, one is obligated to walk the walk. To not do so is sin. All but one or two sins are forgivable, but even forgivable sins will send a person to Hell if not repented.
