Good comment! The modern West is exhibiting many symptoms of the Roman Empire in its last decades. Corruption, debasement of currency, arrogance, etc.
But of course the Roman Empire was eternal. It could not collapse. Until it did.
So much in the news these days is of said "corruption, debasement of currency, arrogance" and more. That historical collapse of old Rome should inform better than it does. Muhammad is now the most popular baby name in the UK, as an example of this. Our debasement of our own currency is surely another.
But I take heart. Germany, devastated by its own enormous stupidity twice in the 20th century, and now devastating its own economy through a "Green" hysteria and Merkel's foolish "wir schaffen es," all still allowed me to sit at Bach's grave in Thomaskirche many times in prior decades. The good remains, and the "bunker" bad is burned away. Seems the way of things, over time.
As Herb Stein famously opined, "that which cannot go on will stop." Personally I'd like to be a little distant from the center of that impact zone. I'm sure 'tis true for you.
Best wishes.
According to Daniel 2, the Roman Empire has persisted in the fragmented iron nations of Western and Eastern Europe…and will persist until Jesus Christ returns and destroys it
