And he dropped a cellphone + used a city electric bike? There may be some really smart or really dumb activity going on here to be sloppy or create a false track. Anyone who would kill someone is most likely to be erring on the side of being dumb. Sure they might have a 180 IQ. But there are some loose screws. With all the types of cameras we have + many other sources of information, the ability of the bad guys to outdo LE on investigations is getting much harder to do.
If LE is willing to do exhaustive research they could probably track his activities down for hours beforehand + possibly the same afterwards. 3 big challenges working against them are: (1) it’s a big city and easier to be lost in the crowd, (2) it’s wintertime and he wasn’t the only one wearing extra layers of clothing, (3) NYC is a sanctuary city so the possibilities of cruminal activity are much more than they should be and thus criminals can plan, execute, and clean up activities more discreetly than in law-abiding communities.
The hit man really stands out in a crowd in New York City.
He is not brown enough.
:-)

It seems like there’s just too many distractions. He used a citibike and a silencer? He visited starbucks? He signed the bullets and rackslided 2 live bullets out of the gun? The cops have to be scrambling with all these mixed signals.
