If two hours later, she retracted the accusatory e-mail and apologized, why doesn't she provide us with the text of the retraction.

So anyway, what did he do and not do. Her answers are unresponsive and evasive, and just says he's not the same person he was seven years ago. She will not give details.

If anything, she arouses in me suspicions about sonny boy.

Mother sticks up for son. Dog bites man.

So I expect him to come forward and make a clean breast of it, and apologize to any woman whom he may have hurt in any way. That worked for Schwarzenegger and his gropy behavior while shooting movies, back when he was running for Governor of CA.

There is currently a transgender goofball in charge of HHS. Why didn’t the media try to uncover his sexual exploits. Republicans are circular firing squads. Man up..

No man is an angel, and no saints are sinless. After what they did to Kavanaugh, I also have no trust in accusers until they show some evidence.

So this “mother” sends an email to her son after or during the divorce then retracts it two hours layer.

HOW DID IT BECOME PUBLIC????

this should have been a family dispute.

He's never been convicted of any crime. He's never been charged with any crime. Therefore, his private life and any woman he might have hurt in any way (hurt feelings?) are none of my damn business. What is my damn business is that this guy seems like the right guy to clean up DoD. Confirm him.

He should apologize privately to anyone who thinks that he hurt them. If he apologizes publicly to everyone who thinks he hurt them, he can be accused of not being sufficiently contrite. Most of the people who will evaluate his public apologies are not the people he is apologizing to, and they will never forgive him on behalf of whoever they think he harmed. And not even that they think anyone was harmed because their objective is not that people can forgive him but because they don’t want him to be forgiven. They prefer that he be dead but in the absence of his death they will accept that he is not confirmed as long as he also doesn’t have a job or an income.

I honestly couldn’t care less what he did back then. Lives run in stages. Some stages are more positive then others. And men who have been to war deserve a great deal of leeway in getting back into a frame of mind more like those who have never been under that sort of stress. Sex and drinking are releases that can’t be sustained indefinitely without it doing as much damage as illicit drugs.

Hegseth didn’t end up on the street and he didn’t end up as a secret drunk today. He found reasons to straighten out his life and he did it. More power to him. The man he is now might be because of what he lived through then, but he is not today the same man he was in the past. He’s at a completely different stage of his life. To say he must be punished because he once took legal things too far is not only hypocritical, it’s also unfair.

And, besides, I really don’t care. I only care that he’s tough and is still a warrior and will stand between Trump and the inertia of the bureaucracy and will do what Trump tells him to do. I care that he’s effective.

I’m glad that his drunk days are past. He has to be a happier man for that. Just don’t let him lose his edge or his goal as he fights for his job. Let him be Trump’s warrior.

Pete’s mom did a great job with the interview. I also know a lot of political pressure was beginning to finally transmit directly to Joni Earnst and Lindsey Graham, ostensibly the two who were orchestrating this against Pete.

A lot of very mad people at the Republicans who folded like cheap lawn chairs following an NBC anonymous source smear. These RINOs learned nothing from the election not 30 days ago. I got news for you, the game has inalterably changed.
