Shocking surveillance footage obtained by DailyMail.com reveals the moment UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot dead outside Manhattan's Hilton Hotel.
Thompson, 50, was seen leaving the hotel at 6:45am on Wednesday, when a masked assailant draws out a gun with a silencer and shoots him in the back.
After Thompson, the head of America's largest health insurance company, stumbled away from the attacker, the gunman follows him and continues firing into the CEO as he hit the ground.
The gunman fled the scene and escaped into Central Park on a bike, with the NYPD releasing chilling images of the assassin to aid the search, along with a $10,000 reward.
Witnesses said the suspected gunman was seen waiting for some time outside the hotel before the shooting, and knew which door Thompson was going to emerge from before opening fire.
Several people were seen in the footage standing nearby when Thompson was hit, with one woman sprinting down the street after being just feet away from the tragedy.
Thompson was named UnitedHealthcare CEO in 2021 and earned a reported $10 million a year, and for several years prior he ran the Medicare business within UnitedHealthcare.
He was slated to speak at an investor meeting at the Hilton Hotel soon after the shooting. According to a release from United Healthcare on Tuesday, he would announce the company's hugely profitable 2025 financial outlook, including expected revenues upwards of $450 billion.
The suspect is at large, and is described as a white male wearing a cream-colored jacket, black face mask, black and white sneakers, and a grey backpack.

Sure it would reliably kill. The standard military 1911 load in WWII is subsonic. Most 38 and 32 specials and 380s, are subsonic. Typical 45 ammo is almost all subsonic. And the way he kept cycling the slide by hand indicates he used a slide lock device. That takes it to a whole other level of quiet... no noise escaping from the ejection port and no metallic cycling slide sounds.
Very quiet.
All kinds of reports coming out now about how bad Unitedhealth is at paying claims. They reject a lot.
I’m thinking some guy who’s wife or mom or dad or child died because Unitedhealth rejected a procedure or claim or something like that.
Completely failed to realize that some subsonic ammo will not reliably cycle a pistol.
No... it wasn’t that. That indicates a slide lock device. Most silencer equipped pistols don’t have it. But the ultimate in quiet is a silencer, with subsonic, and a SLD (slide locking device.
The SLD eliminates gas coming out of the ejection port and the mechanical cycling noise.

He wasn’t clearing jams. He was manually cycling and not using ANY gas to cycle the action.
It’s the quietest possible setup and is probably the 1% of pf people who use silencers. (not counting people who have essentially the same thing on a bolt action)
Every 1911 45 ACP round fired by our men in WWI and WWII was subsonic.
Check out #83. That was not a stoppage or a “tap rack bang”. That was a slide lock device which when used in conjunction with a suppressor and subsonic, is the quietest of all.
But it means you hand cycle every round. The Welrod Pistol of WWII is a low tech version of the concept.
Probably less than 1% of suppressors on pistols have that kind of set up.
“the video of the shooting on rumble showed that the pistol the assailant used failed to feed and had to be manually cycled at least once.”
No... that’s a slide lock device. See post 83. It is the most quiet by far. But it makes you manually cycle the action. Makes a silencer an order of magnitude quieter.
And they forget about the barrel cylinder gap. Suppressed revolvers are pretty loud.
Hawaii 5-0 did a somewhat different take on suppressed guns in the episode “Didn’t We Meet At A Murder?”.
Semi automatic pistols with some sections using plastic as baffles.
It made for good TV.
I enjoyed that show if you mean the one back in the day.
The original series is the only one.
I gave up on the new one about 5 minutes in.
I’m with you. I was hoping you weren’t a fan of the new one. I wanted to keep respecting your judgement! LOL
yeah, agree. He was under investigation and it could just be about money afterall. It usually is. The gunman was probably hired, a semi professional working for a third party who was not happy about ..........money.
It’s nothing personal Sonny.
It’s strictly Business...
“Thompson, who lived in a Minneapolis suburb and was the married father of two sons in high school, was set to speak at an investor meeting in a midtown New York hotel. He was on his own and about to enter the building when he was shot in the back by a masked assailant.”
He knew how to clear it. Everyday folks with little firearm knowledge might not know how so.....

Instead of super-secret-squirrel fast operator... This shooter was most likely using a home squirted HushPuppy Glock.
I haven’t used an SLD, but I have had low power ammo fail ot cycle in a variety of firearms, both rifles and pistols.
That explains the not worrying about the brass then... sending a message.
Need to find an Antifa rat that has connections back here in MN...
I’d put $20 on it...
