“saying that I’m “over the daily limit” & “holding off to prevent spam until we get to know you better”

This is like a car manufacturer telling you how much you are allowed to drive your car or what you can carry in that car after you buy it. This means that car perpetually belongs to the car manufacturer, not you.

How many would stand for this concept? Yet we allow MS to do that very same thing.

“my password was “hateMS”, but they made me change it”

Passwords are confidential and secret. If they claim to respect privacy and security then how did they know what it was? This means your PC passwords are theirs too. And they do not even own your machine.

Maybe the password didn't meet MS's standard. They might require at least one each of an uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and, in most cases, a special character. They may also require a minimum length of a password. They *may* be able to determine this without actually knowing the password. Not trying to give MS a pass here, but this may be a reason for the password failure.

So, "hateMS" may not meet their password standard. I probably would have tried something like "hateMSx1000".

That's the reason why I hate modern MS operating systems. Everything up to Windows 7 let the user control and OWN their machine and experience. Everything since then does not. I got Windows 7 still installed, and yes I also have Windows 10, but I only use it when I have to. Otherwise, it's now Linux and W7. I'm tired of MicroThief knowing my business.
