US tariffs should be used to safeguard American workers and raise necessary federal revenue for proper federal spending.
The US should not impede efforts of foreigners to create better money for themselves.
Nothing says we are. Those foreigners however need to be prepared to try doing so without all the benefits that the USA pays for that they enjoy. Tariffs and simply not biting the hand that feeds you may get you a far better return than giving up all that the USA underwrites.
