Good point regarding today’s “higher” education entities. And they’re pretty much all woke these days.

I long for the days of the purely vocational education, training all comers that will stay, in the ways of whatever profession they’re teaching, be it engineering, or the trades or crafts - for a respectably small tuition. Because the hatred expressed towards white males in our colleges (unless they’re sports stars) is highly discouraging.

I endured it for 3 semesters in the mid 90s before I switched to a more reasonable school where diversity didn’t quite mean bashing the productive. Of course, that’s since changed.

Everyone’s points here about replacing American/Canadian workers with foreign workers are valid. “They” have been undermining the development of more highly-educated citizen workers for decades with the nonsense that goes on in Universities and Colleges. Serious people don’t want to be indoctrinated or told they’re racist because of the circumstances of their births, so it appears that many are choosing not to go to schools that teach white collar skills after high school. That eventually necessitates either hiring foreign workers or hiring native graduates who are fully versed in white privilege, but possibly less capable in their fields because they had more courses in social engineering than in mechanical/civil/electrical/biological engineering.

I should have added that my neighbour is also disgusted at the generally poor work ethic of the citizens he has been able to hire. DEI and all of its previous incarnations need to be removed from schools so young citizens will want to return to those institutions where they can learn the white collar skills without the indoctrination. I’m not sure how you correct the work ethic of an entire generation. I’ve seen it in my business too. Operating costs go up because we hire people after a good interview, they get trained, and two months in, they’re calling in sick because they don’t feel like working, have poor time management (school project due and it’s last minute), or aren’t diligent on the job (e.g. texting too much while working). They’re let go during the probationary period and we have to start all over again. Generally speaking, the current crop of workers is nothing like any of us were at their age. That mindset eventually makes its way into places of higher education where it then affects businesses like my neighbour’s and permeates all of society. It’s a bit of a mess.
