The present administration and the military allowed that Chinese spy balloon to cross the U.S. - after they tracked it all the way across the Pacific - and complete its intended mission. They acknowledged it mostly and shot it down as it left our shores.
The administration would never have said anything about that balloon if the public had not spotted it and raised a fuss. We still don't know much about that balloon or its mission.
The administration is handling this 'Drone Distemper' exactly the same way. Coincidentally, the administration has pardoned two Chinese spies and the relative of a high-ranking member of the Chinese Communist Party who was caught with tens of thousands of images of child pornography... No 'swaps' - no deals???
